Description
Original and very rare Belgian Model 1892–1915 enlisted tunic of the 1st Regiment of Guides (1er Régiment de Guides – 1e Regiment Gidsen), a prestigious cavalry unit of the Belgian Army. This example was recently discovered in a farmhouse in Kanegem, Belgium, together with several untouched period uniforms. The tunic is a true issued other ranks (enlisted) model, clearly identifiable by its simple cotton lining and straightforward construction, in contrast to privately tailored officer garments. It retains its original regimental collar numerals '1', confirming attribution to the 1st Guides, as well as its original buttons and overall structure. The Guides were an elite cavalry formation, and tunics of this type were still in use at the outbreak of World War I, making this a genuine pre-war and early-war worn garment.Condition is strictly as found: the tunic shows heavy moth and/or rodent damage throughout, with losses to the lower sections, sleeves, and lining. Despite this, it remains a 100% original, untouched example, offering strong display and research value due to its rarity and clear regimental identification. Please study all photographs carefully, as no returns will be accepted based on condition. A scarce opportunity to acquire an original Belgian cavalry tunic of the elite Guides regiment, seldom encountered on the market—especially in an authentic issued enlisted configuration.
