US Indian Wars Era Blue Wool Kepi, Horstmann Bros. Retailer

Original era manufacture. Blue wool body with a bound, patent leather visor and patent leather chinstrap with gilded brass buckle. Single, General Service button on the left side of the hat, the right side is a replacement. Nice thick oil cloth covered interior top pad with a Horstmann & Bros Philadelphia contract logo and a partial date of May 3rd 18(8X?). No other portion of the lining remains, Simple leather sweatband is lightly tacked in place. Pinback cross sabre insignia of gilded brass on front. Minor scattered mothing to the wool body, very presentable overall.
