Description
Original era manufacture. Brightly polished steel 31 inch blade maker marked by Klingenthal on the blade spine. Scattered areas of corrosion staining and a bit of pitting near the tip, few nail catchers along the cutting edge. Brass guard with a floral pattern below the pommel. Fishskin wrapped grip shows wear, twisted wire binding is intact. In 1850 the US Army adopted a new Foot Officers sword which is nearly identical to this pattern sword. No scabbard.
