Italian WWI Flying Helmet, French Roold Pattern

Original era manufacture. Based on a French design and used by the Royal Italian Air Force during WWI. Cork body covered with a reddish-brown canvas covering. The helmet is complete except for a thin band of fabric which encompasses the lower edge of the shell covering the securing staples. It is a bit misshappen from poor storage but the body is not crushed or broken. Scarce helmet we would think, came from a local picker who found it in a thrift shop.
