German Pre WWI Grosser Ordnanz Pattern Artillery Presentation Sword, Ewald Cleff Mfg

Original era manufacture. 33 inch triple etched blade with panels on each side extending halfway up the blade. On the reverse side is an 1893 dated presentation from C.Volde to C.Gremir. The polished steel blade is clean with evidence of old cleaned corrosion along its length, no deep pitting or staining. There are nine shallow nail catcher nicks in the cutting edge, none are very deep. Fishskin wrapped grip showing wear, intact triple wire binding. The scabbard has brass carrying rings and bands, the body is dent free but displays a post manufacture heavy black paint finish, chipped in spots. Sound old sword with excellent research potential.
