Japanese WWII Rising Sun Flag & Photo Album

Original era manufacture. This is a nice grouping which recently came out of the Tucson area. The grouping consists of an Army pattern silk Rising Sun flag which measures 28x33 inches with a purple silk fringe around three sides. The flag shows staining and fading with a small hole at center. The fringe is also faded and has begun to come loose from the body of the flag in spots. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the group is the photo album put together by the US Sailor who returned home from WWII with this flag. 200 BW photographs taken while our sailor was stationed in Japan, perhaps at Sasebo Navy Base. Interesting shots of ships and harbor activities, Japanese girls, the raising from the seabed of a two-man sub and two photographs of him posing with this exact flag.
