Dutch Pre WWI M1843 Navy Officers Sword, Ivory Grip

Original era manufacture. 28 inch, pipe back, polished steel blade with French proofs on the ricasso. The blade surface displays a decoration of flowers and stands of arms which are a bit faint at this point. Light cleaned corrosion to the surface with a few shallow nicks in the cutting edge. Attractive pierced brass guard with an Ivory grip which has a chip at the base of the pommel. The black leather scabbard has sound stitching and the metal fittings have a silver wash indicating use by an administrative official. Scarce 19th century Naval officers sword of a pattern replaced in 1882.
