Equipment Other French 19th Century Medical Officers Baldric & Pouch, Red Moroccan Leather Cover

Item #44429 : Original era manufacture. The old adage 'looks can be deceiving' is certainly apropos in this instance. At first glance, we see a very red leather baldric strap with a matching pouch below, with a series of brass, ball-type securing buttons.Beneath the red Moroccan leather cover is an ornate black patent leather baldric strap and matching faux pistol pouch, each decorated with fine quality gilded brass decoration.The French chose this style of covering for field service, similar examples can be seen in Lancer regiments.The leather covering is supple, but does display some minor tears in spots from age and use. The black patent leather strap and pouch on the other hand appear as new.
