Photography Ambrotype with Letter in Wall Case ID'd

Item #1555 : This is a 1/9 plate Ambrotype of Burt Smith. Inside the case is the date of his death Sunday, March 8, 1891. Young Mr. Smith is holding a very important letter. I sure wish I could read it to see what was so important that he wanted it in his picture.
