German, Franco-Prussian War Reissue French 1866 Pattern Chassepot Bayonet,

Original period manufacture. 1866 pattern Chassepot bayonet made in 1868 at the Imperial Arsenal Mutzig. Bright blade with some light spotting issues on its surfaces, with a few scattered nail catcher nicks in the cutting edge. Steel patina finish guard, with a brass grip showing a polished finish. Patina steel scabbard which is nearly dent free. German Landwehr unit markings can be seen on the German installed elongated frog stud and on the guard.
