Italian WWII Fascist Youth Knife

Original era manufacture. An ornate dagger measuring 11 inches in overall length. Polished steel blade measures 6.5 inches, clean, few spots of surface staining with a slight bend at the point. Simple brass guard, ornate gilded brass back strap with an eagle head pommel. Painted leather wrapped grip bound with triple strand twisted wire.   WWII Italian Youth Knife, but are they? We've had a number of these pass through our hands over the years, these have always been described by ourselves and other sellers of similar knives as an example of a WWII Italian youth knife. Often they were accompanied by a simple leather sheath. Recently while doing some online research regarding these knives, I came upon several instances stating that these were actually modified Italian Air Force swords, cut down to sell to Allied soldiers serving in Italy as a souvenir of the war. Certainly plausible, frankly the latter description appeals to me more. Good Collecting.
