Description
Original era manufacture. Rubberized canvas scabbard with attached frog, and a later war manufacture, Toyada made bayonet, a married set. Straight guard, rounded bird-head pommel, contoured wooden grips and a bright finished blade made with fullers. Original wooden grips, the obverse grip plate shows two grooves similar to the US M1917 bayonet grips, and on the reverse grip are four, hand-stamped numbers, 2188. The blade is quite clean, no corrosion issues, mix of blue and steel patina to the guard and pommel Basically sound rubberized canvas scabbard with integral frog, stitching and rivets are present, with typical breaks in the fabric of the belt loops. Remains pliable enough that the blade can be easily drawn and inserted.
