Tiger Stripe Waffen-SS M40 Camouflage Helmet

Sold
$8900.00

Description

This helmet is an ET66 M40, #4991, with a tan and dark green camouflage scheme. The ET pattern SS shield on the right side shows as very worn, with a light degree of exposure. The liner and chinstrap are untouched original to the helmet, with no manipulation of the pins or strap bales. The strap is dated 1942, an obvious wartime replacement (these were 'expendable-durables' and were available anytime the strap wore out–a constant and common practice during service use). The camo scheme in my opinion is the same as the tan-green finish observed on examples named to LAH troops, having camo'd them in this manner in Southern Russia, Italy, etc. There is no inscription in this helmet, and the camo scheme comments are observations based on other similar examples. All in all a fine, early SS M40, with great condition and service used appeal. COA accompanies.
