Published Waffen-SS Reverse Decal M42 Double Decal

Due to the utmost rarity of these, only a few collections feature an example of the Waffen-SS foreign volunteer helmet. This helmet was published first in my 1998 book on SS helmets and was in the collection of the late Byron Vickery. The best available information on the history of these helmets is that they started out as SS police formations that were later regularized into the Waffen-SS as they formed the later divisions such as the Ukrainian divisions, as well as Hungarian and Balkans ( see SS-Steel for period photos of these in use). These helmets were initially issued as police and then re-badged with a CA Pocher SS shields on top of the police shield. The pictures reveal this nuance.
