SS M42 EF 68 w/ Heer Decal Helmet

This is a straight up SS-issue M42 helmet by EF size 68, batch number 2755. It is a fascinating SS helmet in that it that features both an EF SS decal and a lightly exposed Heer decal. The Heer decal appears show an attempt to scratch/remove decal but most of the finish is still intact. This is most likely a helmet taken from Heer issue stocks and badged for issue to the SS. The EF runic shield is near perfect condition. This helmet was discovered in New Jersey nearly 17 years ago out of a veteran’s estate and was a previously featured helmet here due to its unique double decal feature. The way it is shown today is the way it was found nearly two decades ago. The liner appears to be lighter, which may be indicative a reissue/replacement (which may coincide with two decals for different issue from army to SS).
