1940 Heer Enlisted Schiffchen

This is a minty example of a 1940 Heer schiffchen mütze that shows the practice of size modification of existing stocks– taking smaller head sizes and making them larger. In this case it is a size 54 to a size 58. The conversion cloth and stitching is visible towards the rear of the cap, showing how the modification involved the addition of feldgrau wool and lining material. The cap has beautiful insignia factory applied, and is very well marked including a unit or depot marking. COA accompanies.
