This Danish SS-Schalburgkorps cuff title is in worn condition which actually makes it quite special because almost most of these sleeve titles can be found in unworn condition.Length cuff title: 35 cmThe Germanic Corps (Germansk Korpset) was formed in April 1943 and shortly thereafter renamed SS Schalburg Corps. It was formed under the command of K.B. Martinsen, who had recently returned to Denmark from the Eastern Front after the dissolution of the Free Corps Denmark (Freikorps Danmark), which he had later commanded as part of the Waffen-SS.It was divided into two parts. 'Group I' functioned as a uniformed paramilitary force, while 'Group II' consisted of civilian sympathizers who were supposed to finance the unit. The latter was transformed into a political party known as the Danish People's Defense Party (Dansk Folke Værn), which separated a number of existing factions of the far-right in Denmark from the National Socialist Workers Party of Denmark (Danmarks Nationalsocialistiske Arbejderparti, or DNSAP). By the winter of 1943, Martinsen had built the unit up to about 1,000 men led by two dozen Danish Waffen-SS officers.According to plans by Himmler, Best and Martinsen, the SS Schalburg Corps was used to quell the Danish resistance. It participated in the murder of opposition members – including Danish playwright Kaj Munk – and bombed buildings with suspected ties to the Danish resistance.A rare Danish SS cuff title for the collaboration or cuff title collection!Article number: 10742
