Description
Original era manufacture. This is a very interesting badge, which represents a very small unit serving with the CEF during WWI. The badge measures roughly 37 x 38 mm, is made of copper with three attaching lugs on the reverse. On the reverse of the scroll is the makers name, GAUNT LONDON. On the obverse, at the bottom of the gold pan bearing the initials YT, is a small representative gold nugget secured with two thin brass wires. I am not sure if this is real gold or not, but it looks to be a different metal than copper. This unit was quite small, perhaps only 6 officers and less than 100 enlisted men, so finding original examples of their insignia is a difficult task.
